One of the bats in that frequents the state of Virginia bat pest control and nearby states takes the name of its home state. This bat is the Virginia Big-Eared Bat. These bats will also vary in color from pale to dark brown on the back with a lighter brown on the underneath stomach. You can find these bats currently only in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina. These Virginia big-eared bats are found mostly in caves surrounded by wooded areas with thick forests. In the winter bat colonies will be found hibernating in caves such as these. They look for caves that have a temperature of 23-54 degrees so they can slow down their heart rates and metabolic rates. These bats can spend months at a time waiting for the winter to go away. During this time bats can lose up to half of their body weight. After the winter is over the birthing periods of the female bats begins. They first mate before the winter but there is a delayed fertilization period until the winter is over. Once they awake the females will go form a colony with other female bats to take care of the young. The males will actually not be around the females for the entire summer. In June each year the female will give birth to only one pup each year. This is part of the problem with declining numbers since it takes years to rebuild the fallen population. Virginia bat pest control bat removal have noticed a drop in the species but in recent years a small boost has been seen as conservation efforts have been taken up by the state and non profit groups. One of the larger ways to help preserve the Virginia big-eared bats is to protect their homes over the winter. Many times people do not realize that by disturbing these hibernating bats it could lead to their death. This happens because the bats need to move around and this takes them out of their hibernation mode using up the stored fats they need to get them through the winter. When this happens they can starve before more food is available.
